DIY face masks for acne breakouts
Acne breakouts can happen due to a number of factors and the treatment also depends on these factors. The main cause is excessive skin oil and clogged pores. However, the cause of the excessive oil secretion can be anything from hormonal imbalances to small infections. Severe acne usually requires medical heavy treatment, but mild breakouts can be treated with DIY face masks for acne breakouts. Let us look at these masks which can treat acne and reduce the breakouts considerably.
Turmeric and honey
Mix ½ a tsp of turmeric and 1 tbsp of honey. Apply on the face and leave it on for 10 -15 minutes
Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and can reduce the inflammation that causes acne. You can use the turmeric powder or the root when it is still raw and wet and grind it to a paste. Honey along with being anti-inflammatory is also anti-bacterial and antimicrobial. Hence honey enhances the action of the face mask in fighting acne. This face mask will not only treat acne, but will also prevent future breakouts if used regularly.
Tea tree oil
All you need to do is mix a drop or two of tea tree oil in your regular clay mask and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Make sure that you do not leave the mask on for more than 30 minutes. Tea tree oil is a tried and tested anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. IT is very effective as a natural remedy for acne. However, if you use too much tea tree oil then it can cause skin irritation. Apart from a calcium bentonite clay mask you can also dilute the tea tree oil with honey and apply to the acne breakout skin.
Witch hazel in rose water
Witch hazel is a botanical extract and is usually used for its astringent properties. This product removes the excess oil from the skin apart from being antibacterial and anti-inflammatory in nature. You should mix a few drops of witch hazel in rose water or the water of white tea. Use this water added to a bentonite clay mask. Do not use an alcoholic base because it can cause irritation on the skin and it will strip the skin of moisture.
Aloe vera and turmeric or green tea
Mix aloe vera with turmeric or green tea and apply to the face. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Aloe is very calming in nature and it will help if the acne is irritated and inflamed as it will calm the skin. Aloe as a plant also has salicylic acid and sulfur which is ideal for acne especially if you have oily skin. Aloe mixed with turmeric or green tea will help to control the oil and sensitive skin. You can also drink aloe juice to get rid of acne. This is the double benefit of this plant on your skin.
Such DIY face masks for acne can be very effective, but along with these you also need to consume the nutrients that will treat the acne from within. AS mentioned above, drinking aloe vera juice is a good idea and you should also make it a habit of taking skin supplements like Chicnutrix Super C which contain Vitamin C and Zinc and this is an anti-inflammatory compound which also boosts the immunity of the body. Hence it is excellent for reducing and even completely curing acne breakouts.
